Executive Coach for Public Company CEOs, and the leaders who run the business with them

A board that meets every quarter. Analysts who read every word. A succession question nobody wants to raise, and an executive team that has to perform in public. David Turner has run organizations inside public companies. He now coaches the CEOs, division presidents and C-suite leaders who carry that weight today.

David Turner is an executive coach for CEOs and C-suite leaders of publicly traded companies, and the founder of Velocity Now LLC in Denver, Colorado. He was a Vice President at IHS and SVP and Managing Director at DigitalGlobe, and later CEO of a private equity backed technology company. He has logged 13,400+ hours coaching executives at companies from $50M to $27B in revenue. Public-company clients include leaders at Hyster-Yale, DHI Group, Sekisui House US, Transamerica, ASSA ABLOY and Advanced Energy. He works with executives across the United States.

The seat David coaches from

At DigitalGlobe, David ran an organization inside a public company. It grew from $320M to $703M in revenue while employee engagement rose from 44% to 97%, unwanted attrition stayed under 3%, and more than half the team was upgraded along the way. He knows what it means to deliver the number every quarter, to explain a miss upward, and to keep a team performing when the stock price is part of the conversation.

Before that he was a Vice President at IHS. After it, he ran a company as CEO with a board and a plan to own. Twelve years of coaching since then have added the pattern recognition from 13,400+ hours with CEOs and their teams.

What public-company leaders bring to the conversation

I wouldn’t be pushing as hard on leveraging AI if it hadn’t been for you. Keep inspiring my team as well on that front. Dave Viser, CEO, Sekisui House US
Multiple people came up to me afterwards and complimented your facilitation of the event. This has been a phenomenal experience for the team, all based on your solid game plan and true engagement of the full team. Thank you for making that happen for us. Art Zeile, CEO, DHI Group

How the coaching works

Built around the desk, not a curriculum. Every session starts with what is in front of the leader that week: the board meeting, the direct report who is not performing, the decision that has been sitting too long.

The leader and the team at the same time. David coaches the CEO and the direct reports in parallel. He triangulates what the CEO says, what the team says, and what neither of them says out loud. Misalignment gets seen early, while it is still cheap to fix.

Across the country. Sessions run by video, with David on site for offsites, 360 debriefs and the moments that call for being in the room.

What’s included. Monthly retainer coaching, 360 assessments, leadership offsites, executive candidate evaluation before a C-level hire, and M&A advisory. Between sessions, 80+ proprietary frameworks through the Velocity Now frameworks app. The details live on the CEO coaching and executive team coaching pages.

You have made a huge difference in my professional and work life. The number of ways I have grown with your coaching are too many to count. Care, But Not Too Much. Relationships and Values Trump Results. All of them stuck, and I am simply a better man due to the time and space we have spent together. Thank you, my friend. CEO, $4B publicly traded company
I’ve listened to all of the released podcasts over the last couple days driving back-and-forth to Colorado Springs. This is incredible stuff. I am so grateful to have an opportunity to get your wisdom in five minute increments. And implementing lessons daily! President, publicly traded company
